چکیده

Abstract Stinging nettle ( Urtica dioica ) is a potential source material for industrial applications. However, systematic research on the ultrastructural properties of fibres lacking. Determining ultrastructure and other bast also provides new insights into studies archaeological their usage. In this study, nanostructure modern ancient samples was studied using wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) compared to fibres. The culturo-historical fibre consisted nettle, flax, hemp from White Karelian textiles collected 1894 as well 800–900-year-old textile fragments Ravattula Ristimäki burial site, Finland. Using WAXS, average cellulose crystallite widths, relative crystallinities orientational order (including microfibril angle fibres) were determined compared. results revealed suitability WAXS analysis identification. widths similar size all (3.4–4.8 nm). Subtle differences in descending (from flax finally hemp) observed. Also, subtle mean MFAs observed (10 ± 1° 12 14 hemp). For fibres, values larger corresponding references. addition, features due presence non-cellulosic, crystalline substances (e.g., calcium oxalates) detected patterns These could potentially be used tool identification purposes. Small angle X-ray scattering studies on myosin.

Small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) is a potentially powerful method for obtaining structural information from biological molecules in solution. The use of this technique in the laboratory has hitherto been limited by the long exposures necessary to obtain patterns on photographic film. Multi-wire area detectors, due to their high efficiency and absence of noise, enable patterns to be collected...

Small-angle X-ray scattering studies on the X-ray induced aggregation of malate synthase.

Malate Synthase, Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering, X-Ray Induced Aggregation, Computer Simula tions, Models for the Aggregation Process Malate synthase undergoes an X-ray induced aggregation which can be monitored in situ by small-angle X-ray scattering; the analysis of scattering curves, taken at subsequent stages of aggregation, has led to the establishment of a tentative model for an aggregatio...

[Small-angle x-ray-scattering studies on the substructure of Helix pomatia hemocyanin].

Hemocyanin of the snail helix pomatia was studied by small angle X-ray scattering in 0.15 M phosphate buffer pH 6. The outer portion of the scattering curve showed minima, which indicated that the hemocyanin molecule is composed of a large number of identical (or very similar) nearly spherical subunits. From the position of the minima the radius of gyration R u of the subunit was calculated to ...

Simultaneous measurements of small angle x-ray scattering, wide angle x-ray scattering, and dielectric spectroscopy during crystallization of polymers

A novel experimental setup is described which allows one to obtain detailed information on structural and dynamical changes in polymers during crystallization. This technique includes simultaneous measurements of small angle-wide angle x-ray scattering and dielectric spectroscopy ~SWD!. The capabilities of the technique have been probed by following in real time the crystallization process of a...
